In the wake of the pandemic and financial upheaval, women globally have shouldered a disproportionate array of responsibilities, balancing increased job demands with pivotal roles in household care. Despite these efforts, women are notably underrepresented in key positions and are consistently paid less than their male counterparts for equivalent or even greater responsibilities. In 2020, the gender pay gap averaged 13.0% in the European Union and 14.1% in the euro area, varying significantly across Member States. This disparity remains a pressing challenge for the EU. The European Commission urges actions to address segregation in sectors where women dominate, enhance women’s representation in corporate and political decision-making, and improve the work-life balance for both genders. Persistent structural underpayment, gender stereotypes—especially prevalent in STEM fields—and discrimination in all sectors underscore the urgent need for change. EqPay4all stands as a concerted effort to combat the gender pay gap and dismantle associated stereotypes, aiming to foster lasting transformation.

What is Our role in EqPay4all?

Future Needs plays a pivotal role in the development and refinement of the Virtual Think Tank (VTT) platform within this project. As the lead for these activities, Future Needs spearheads the design, development, and translation phases of the VTT, working collaboratively with partner organisations to ensure the platform’s interactive and technically robust nature. Future Needs oversees the identification of technical requirements, designs the graphic interface, and integrates collaborative tools for synchronous and asynchronous engagement. Additionally, Future Needs takes charge of drafting a comprehensive manual that elucidates the VTT’s navigation and technical functionalities. Furthermore, Future Needs leads the critical phase of piloting and fine-tuning the VTT, overseeing the testing process to gauge its effectiveness and usability. Their central role ensures the successful creation, understanding, and optimization of this innovative platform designed to facilitate collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange among diverse bodies and organisations across different countries involved in the project.

What are the objectives of EqPay4all ?

  • Enhance knowledge and skills regarding stereotypes and the right to equal pay for equal work.
  • Combat stereotypes and gender biases within professions and job structures.
  • Heighten awareness and empower women to reduce the gender pay gap.
  • Foster social cohesion among diverse groups for collaborative action on this topic.
  • Promote common values advocating for gender equality, fundamental in Community Law and EU principles.
  • Improve youth employability and advocate for fair treatment at work irrespective of gender.
  • Establish networks committed to actively promoting workplace equality.
  • Align with EU and international priorities addressing gender inequality.
  • Engage project participants as ambassadors spreading awareness about gender inequality in the job market.

The need for gender pay equality

The pursuit of gender pay equality is essential for fostering a fair and inclusive society. Despite significant progress over time, the existence of a gender wage gap highlights persistent disparities that need urgent attention. Addressing this gap goes beyond mere economic equity; it embodies the principles of fairness, opportunity, and societal progress. Achieving true gender pay equality involves identifying and rectifying various factors contributing to the gap, including societal expectations, caregiving roles, job preferences, and potential discrimination. By implementing policies that promote flexible work structures, equal opportunities for career advancement, and challenging societal norms, we pave the way for a more just and equitable future where individuals are valued based on merit and capability, rather than gender.

  • a Competence Framework and Competence Assessment indicators, and
  • a MOOC on the use of drones and associated digital tools.

AgroPro is committed to promoting equal opportunities, and environmental sustainability, and fostering strategic partnerships to ensure scalability and widespread adoption of its initiatives, in alignment with the socioeconomic development strategies of its partner countries.

What is the “e-Guide” that will be developed”

The e-Guide will be a digital career resource designed to showcase new professions emerging in the agricultural sector due to advancements in drone technology. Based on the needs analysis and recommendations from CEDEFOP’s 2018 Handbook of ICT practices, the e-Guide will target educational institutions, lifelong learning centres, career offices, tutors, and agricultural stakeholders. It will aim to bridge the knowledge and skills gap in these new occupations and provide comprehensive information to facilitate the development of learning and training materials. The e-Guide will serve as a foundation for a MOOC on using UAVs and digital tools for sustainable agriculture. The main results will include an aggregated set of occupational descriptors, information, and links related to UAS use in agriculture, which will assist individuals and guidance counsellors in accessing information about career opportunities. The e-Guide’s innovative aspect will be its ability to compile curated content and research from different countries, making it a valuable resource for various EU organisations and institutions.

The goal of the BeWEEN project is to enhance Digital Education Readiness by building capacity in “healthier and more responsible use of digital technology”. When Digital Safety is discussed by policy makers or schools, the conversation is dominated by cybersecurity issues. The notion of “safety in a digital world” however also encompasses our personal health and the health of our planet. Our BeWEEN project aims to help teachers and students realise this and develop Competences in “Protecting health and well-being” and “Protecting the environment” Competences. These are two competences that are included in the EU Digital Competence Framework (DigComp), but are under-addressed in curricula.

BeWEEN will deliver a robust solution to be readily taken up by High School Teachers and Students to develop key digital Competences under area 4 of DigComp “Safety”, and thus address the associated challenges imposed on youth of the COVID-19 era.

Future Needs participates in the BeWEEN project as a partner responsible for the development of the Training programme material which will be piloted among High School Teachers, enhancing their Digital Education Readiness. Future Needs also leads the development of the BeWEEN Mobile Game which will be promoted to and piloted by youth learners aged 13-21 in 4 European countries.

With this project, BeWEEN partners aim to:

  • Improve the level of key digital competences and skills of High School Teachers and students in Europe and beyond;
  • Impact EU policies concerning the safe and responsible use of digital technology;
  • Promote and strengthen the European lifelong learning area, by contributing to the dissemination, multiplication and replication of this new Training material.

BeWEEN has a bottom-up approach, involving High School Teachers and students in a comprehensive process covering the components of research and analysis, piloting and evaluation and exploitation & policy making.

During the 24 months of the project’s implementation, partners, participants and potential end-users will embark into a challenging journey that will start with the research of the current needs for the development of competences and mindsets along with the collection of relevant good practices from all over Europe. The findings from this procedure will serve BeWEEN as the basis for the development of the relevant training curriculum for the digital competences of the teachers and its development and piloting. Practice-related activities will then be jointly promoted and supported by piloting actions that will enable participating high schools and educational institutions to exploit the full potential of the BeWEEN project’s results and outputs.

BeWEEN project’s immediate impact goals are:

  • 50 High School Teachers and 50 youth learners to participate in the field research;
  • At least 30 teaching resources to be developed and translated in English;
  • Over 75 High School Teachers to attend online the BeWEEN Training Programme;
  • The BeWEEN Mobile Game to reach over 750 downloads.

Where does the project aim?

Green Artivism project aims to offer young people innovative digital artistic tools in order to help the environmental cause regain momentum – after a halt due to Covid 19 pandemic – though without physical protesting. Following the climate strikes in 2018 by youngsters led by Greta Thunberg, the European Green Deal in 2019 and the core values of European Commission’s new European Bauhaus initiative (January 2021), this project visions to help people achieve a just, local, green, economically viable transition through the use of toolkits for collaboration, community building, participation in democratic procedures, literacy and advocacy.

How will Future Needs participate?

Future Needs will participate at the development and design (structure and functions) of the “CREATIVITY Web-toolkit” in Green Artivism project. This phase incorporates a number of actions, primarily the development of a tool and tutorial named “Storytelling through social media”. The aim is to inspire action with a story and measure impact. Last but not least, Future Needs will lead the development of the “GREEN CITIZENSHIP Workshop” (structure and material development), under which we will perform a number of actions, such as creating the material for the session “Local relevance of EGD for me” and the design of a Virtual Think Tank.

In which actions will the participants take part?

During Green Artivism project the participants will take part in co-op games, a festival and joint-trainings. Under the dissemination umbrella, short plays will be performed outdoors, posters & comics will be presented in public, short films will be submitted to local festivals. Also, storytelling will be included in local TedX sessions and creative writing posted in local newspapers and EU policy magazines.

Green Artivism addresses to:

  • Youth (aged 16-30 years old).
  • Youth Workers who desire to help the cultural and creative sectors recover from the crisis in terms of green, more digital and resilient recovery.
  • Youth participants, especially those involved with Arts who desire to get informed, trained and well-connected so that they can really make a change.

Which are the outcomes of the project?

After participating in the project Youth Workers will be able to replicate the GREEN CITIZENSHIP Workshop and add further material to the Web-toolkit, while youth participants will become Green Artivists and transfer knowledge acquired to peers while stimulating EGD focused active citizenship initiatives.

The long term impact of the project will be:

To spark and retain interest on Climate Change via a VIRTUAL THINK TANK where young people, youth leaders, youth workers, policy makers and other key actors from different backgrounds will host a dialogue. Participants from Green Artivism project will be able to host their creations, to network, to find collaborators to implement their project ideas, to foster learning and capacity building between locally rooted organizations and individuals and more mature CSOs and NGOS.

Green Artivism will provide fertile ground for interaction and dialogue even (and especially) under the conditions of social distancing and the travel restrictions that Covid 19 imposed. With the finalisation of this project, it is expected that a cycle of empowerment and advocacy will be established, where more and more youth NGOs and participants will be able to join the Green Artivism network and independently express and fight for their environmental rights and for a better future with a strong, healthy and democratic civil society.

What is the mission of UAMschool4cities?

UAMschool4cities’ mission is to create a learning framework and a training programme for current and future local authority employees which will equip them with the necessary skills to manage the uptake of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) services in their city. In particular, UAMschool4cities project will create a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for professionals of any background interested in entering the local Public Administration mobility sector.

The MOOC will enable participants to:

  • Get familiar with UAM concepts and key technologies.
  • Keep up with relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Include UAM in urban development agendas.
  • Develop responsible and socially acceptable UAM services for the benefit of citizens.

The Training programme will be piloted with 70 city employees from 10 cities across Europe. At the end of the course participants will be awarded with the ‘’UAM for Cities Certificate”.

What is the “Occupational Profile” Future Needs will develop?

In UAMschool4cities, Future Needs will develop an initial Occupational Profile based on outcomes of a series of two-day workshops in five countries with a panel of high-performing city staff already working in the area of UAM for their city. During each workshop these skilled employees will identify the duties and tasks that make up their job. Thus the result will be an Occupational Profile which describes a job in terms of specific duties and tasks that competent UAM staff must perform. Finally the description will be complemented by a visually attractive user-friendly chart.

The “Training Platform” as a service

Furthermore, Future Needs Management Consulting will also design the e-learning Training Platform of UAMschool4cities, which will host the online course. The Training programme will be available in 5 languages: English, French , Greek , Portuguese , Slovenian.

At the end of the project partners will release the validated Training Programme as a service to become available for every European city and beyond.

What are the project mid-term objectives?

By the end of the project partners aim to have achieved the following mid-term outcomes:

  • The delivery of a comprehensive Occupational Profile for UAM public domain experts that Human Resources departments across local, national and EU administrations can utilize.
  • The establishment of a coherent learning methodology for training public servants in UAM which cities and Adult Learning professionals may utilize.

What is the long-term impact of UAMschool4cities?

The longer-term impact of the project will be:

  • The establishment of a mechanism that will provide cities with skilled and qualified UAM experts.
  • Enhanced employability of professionals from various domains through acquisition of UAM skills and competences.
  • Acceleration of deployment of innovative transport services in EU cities, as a result of application of newly acquired skills in practice by trained UAM experts.
