Future Needs leads dissemination and exploitation at RECONMATIC 3rd annual meeting

18/09/2024

The RECONMATIC project held its 3rd Annual General Assembly on September 16-17, 2024, in Thessaloniki, Greece, marking the conclusion of the project’s second year. It was a great opportunity to meet in person and plan our next steps in innovating the construction sector. Future Needs played a key role in driving the discussion on exploitation strategies, dissemination, and the practical application of project innovations. Organized by Aristotle University’s Laboratory of Building Construction and Building Physics, the meeting gathered 36 participants from partner organizations, with others joining online.

Technological and demonstration case highlights

The Future Needs team, leading Dissemination and Exploitation activities for Business and Education in RECONMATIC, was represented by Georgia Nikolakopoulou and Ioannis Koutsos. As key partners, they drove the discussions on how the innovative solutions developed within RECONMATIC can be effectively communicated and transitioned into the industry. Through its leadership in dissemination and exploitation activities, Future Needs ensures that these cutting-edge technologies reach the appropriate stakeholders and maximize their impact.

One of the technological highlights shared during the meeting was the Greek demonstrator, which features a blockchain-based tool for CDW (Construction and Demolition Waste) traceability. Additionally, other partners showcased progress on pilot cases across Europe, including the Czech Republic and Italy, emphasizing the use of robotic systems, digital modelling, and sustainability assessments to improve CDW management. Future Needs plays a key role in diffusing the results to the stakeholders and the wide audience.

Digital Tools and Market Readiness

Future Needs, in collaboration with Jihoceska agentura pro invocani podnikani (JAIP), is leading the creation of resources that will train industry professionals in utilizing RECONMATIC’s solutions. This work on educational and training materials for industry professionals is critical to the project’s long-term success. These materials will be completed by fall 2025 and will serve as a vital resource for stakeholders, ensuring that the project’s outputs have a lasting, tangible impact on the construction industry.

Dissemination and Clustering Activities

A major focus of Future Needs during the meeting was the extensive dissemination and clustering activities conducted over the past year. By driving RECONMATIC’s initiative for the Circular Construction Cluster, announced in the RECONMATIC clustering event, and participation in key networks, such as Tech4EU Construction Cluster, Future Needs is amplifying the project’s visibility and its role in advancing sustainable construction practices. Their efforts have also extended beyond Europe, with significant outreach activities in China, where the RECONMATIC project is becoming a crucial R&D initiative.

Looking ahead, Future Needs will continue to lead the dissemination and exploitation efforts, ensuring the innovative tools developed within RECONMATIC are adopted by industry professionals and contribute to global sustainability goals.

The meeting also celebrated the collaborative efforts among partners, with a special thanks to the Greek hosts Theodoros Theodosiou and Katerina Karanafti and our coordinator Jan Valentin (Technical University in Prague) for organising and coordinating this constructive meeting, as well as the Greek partners Skyrodema Verias AVE (SKYDE), ERGODOMI S.A. (ERGO), and ANAKEM who sponsored a very pleasant and lusious dinner next to the city’s landmark, the White Tower. Future Needs’ commitment to fostering strong partnerships remains integral to the project’s continued success.

As RECONMATIC enters its third year, Future Needs is at the forefront, ensuring that the project’s innovative solutions and materials will be available to all interested stakeholders and will shape the future of sustainable construction.
