Boosting Youth Power Against Health Misinformation
On May 5–6, 2025, Future Needs joined partners in Osijek, Croatia, for the kick-off meeting of the Erasmus+ Health-Lit project—an initiative to enhance health literacy among young people and equip them to critically navigate health information in the digital age.
The meeting, hosted by The Centre for Peace, Nonviolence and Human Rights – Osijek, brought together partners from across Europe:
- Future Needs Management Consulting Ltd (Cyprus)
- Bureau for Integration and Social Innovations (Bulgaria)
- FORMA.AZIONE SRL (Italy)
- Mano Europa (Lithuania)
Leading communication, participation, and dissemination
Future Needs is leading the project’s CONNECT work package, focusing on communication, participation, and dissemination. Our Communication & Dissemination Manager, Emma Tsai, attended the meeting on-site, while Project Manager Kyriaki Daskaloudi joined online to support the launch of the project.
During the meeting, Emma presented the strategic direction of the CONNECT work package, with a focus on both the overall long-term communication goals and the concrete activities planned for the first six months of the project — laying the foundation for impactful awareness and engagement across participating countries.
“I’m proud to be part of a project that empowers young people to take control of their health choices in a world overflowing with information — and misinformation. Health-Lit is about more than just awareness; it’s about building critical thinking, resilience, and confidence in the digital age.” – Emma Tsai.
About the Health-Lit project
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, the Health-Lit project empowers young people (ages 14–29) with the skills and awareness needed to:
- Recognise and counter health-related disinformation
- Build resilience and digital literacy
- Support youth civic engagement and critical thinking
- Strengthen the capacity of youth workers and educators
- Foster evidence-informed youth policy on health literacy
The project officially started on March 1, 2025, and will run for 24 months, concluding on February 28, 2027.
Bringing Experience to the Table
At Future Needs, we have extensive experience in topics closely aligned with Health-Lit’s goals. In the EdTech sector, we’ve worked hands-on with the DigComp and DigCompEdu frameworks, turning them into training programmes and digital tools for both formal and non-formal education. We’ve also led initiatives addressing hate speech and disinformation among youth, including scenario-based learning games and awareness events across Europe.
Our involvement in EU-funded health projects such as AI4LUNGS, ENTRUST, and ImAFUSA has deepened our expertise in areas like AI for diagnostics, trust in medical devices, and health impacts of emerging technologies. By blending youth engagement, digital innovation, and health-focused communication, we’re excited to help young people across Europe become more informed, resilient, and empowered when it comes to health.
