Future Needs to Lead the Next Chapter of the Aviation Twin Transition (ATT) Cluster Through IAM-CC

During the final Aviation Twin Transition (ATT) Cluster: From Research to Results webinar, organised in collaboration with EUROCONTROL, Future Needs announced that it will continue leading the Aviation Twin Transition (ATT) Cluster through the Horizon Europe IAM-CC project, ensuring the community continues to grow beyond the lifetime of its founding projects.

The announcement reflected the key message of Future Needs’ Communication & Dissemination Manager, Eglė Joneliūnaitė’s, presentation, Sustaining Impact in Aviation through Community-Driven Collaboration: projects come and go, but communities can sustain their impact.

Launched by Future Needs in 2024 through the Horizon Europe RefMap and SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking ImAFUSA projects, the ATT Cluster has grown from two founding projects into a collaborative ecosystem of six EU-funded initiatives. Today, it brings together a community of more than 50 researchers, industry representatives, SMEs and innovation organisations working together to shape the future of aviation.

Over the past two years, the cluster has:

– expanded from 2 to 6 EU-funded projects

– organised an international clustering event in Athens with 48 experts

– delivered four webinars with EUROCONTROL, attracting 500+ registrations and achieving a 90% satisfaction rate

– built an active community spanning 10+ countries.

About the IAM-CC project

IAM Competence Centre (IAM-CC) is a €5 million EU-funded project addressing one of the most critical and often overlooked aspects of IAM: societal readiness for its adoption. Rather than focusing only on technological feasibility, the project looks at the problems IAM can solve, society’s readiness to adopt it, and how it can be deployed fairly.  Running from June 2026 to December 2029, IAM-CC brings together a consortium of 20 organisations from across Europe to shape the introduction of IAM in practice.

Future Needs led the successful IAM-CC proposal and plays a central role as the project’s lead SSH research partner, while driving the development of the IAM Competence Centre and leading project exploitation and outreach.
