The GreenPosts objective is to implement a general concept and approach for postal services’ operations to go green by introducing a mindset of sustainability linked to the transition to a circular and greener economy. GreenPosts project’s specific goal is to capacitate local posts’ staff to change engagement, to develop green skills and foster leadership and creativity via socio-educational and professional development and action.
The project aim is to create training material for posts’ staff on how to put the European Green Deal into practice at the local level, and respect the UN Sustainable Development Goal 13 saying “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts” and SDG 11 saying “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”.
In the GreenPosts project Future Needs will support Postal Services from 4 countries in building organisational capacity in Climate Change mitigation and adaptation strategies. Future Needs will also contribute to the improvement and extension of the supply of high-quality learning opportunities for adults, under the perspective of lifelong learning via an Online Training Courses and a virtual Think Tank. In particular Future Needs leads the development of training material on the topic of Green Financial Management and Budgeting.

The project is also meant to involve postal office workers in a variety of environmental problems of their local society related to noise or air pollution, waste disposal, consumer education and protection. Furthermore, the activities of GreenPosts offer the opportunity for inter-regional sharing, sustaining the success of the related internal training workshops developed by the partner organisations. Partners will be sharing best practice and information facilitating continuous improvement and effective carbon management and climate change mitigation and adaptation beyond the consortium.
Both the online training developed and the online community established will help the participants to keep up-to-date with science and policy on EU level, as well as to enhance their competences in various sustainability-relevant sectors.
