Destination #2 of Cluster Health is referred to as “Living and working in a health-promoting environment”. Under the umbrella of this Cluster of Health, there are in total six distinct destinations or impacts, each one related to a specific area of the broad issue of health. Here we will analyze destination #2.
Where does destination #2 aim at?
- Creation of new pieces of evidence, methodologies, and tools to understand, identify and assess the risks and benefits for health, and to enable health-promoting and disease-preventive policy actions.
- Support the EU’s environment and health policies and overarching policy frameworks such as the European Green Deal, the future 8th Environment Action Programme, the EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work, and the European Environment and Health Process (EHP).
- Development of new and improved health interventions and technologies.
- Strong collaborations across sectors and with other Horizon Europe clusters dealing with issues such as “one health”, agriculture, food, environment, climate, mobility, security, urban planning, social inclusion, and gender.
Which Horizon calls address destination #2?
Each cluster of Horizon Europe is addressed by the so-called “calls”, a kind of announcement from the European Commission to all stakeholders, and to everyone interested in applying for funding for a project or a research idea.
Calls are also announced for each destination of each cluster. Thus, for this destination #2, calls for proposals are directed towards the Key Strategic Orientation KSO-D “Creating a more resilient, inclusive and democratic European society” of Horizon Europe’s Strategic Plan 2021-2024. Research and innovation supported under this destination should contribute to the impact area “A resilient EU prepared for emerging threats” and in particular to the following expected impact, set out in the Strategic Plan for the health cluster: “living and working environments are health-promoting and sustainable thanks to a better understanding of environmental, occupational, social and economic determinants of health”. In addition, research and innovation supported under this destination could also contribute to the following impact areas: “Good health and high-quality accessible health care”, “Climate change mitigation and adaptation”, and “Clean and healthy air, water and soil”.
Specifically, there are two calla under destination #2, Living and working in a health-promoting environment of Cluster 1-Health, that have a number of topics.
